7:46 AM
We woke up at 6, packed all our things, and I went out on our cabin porch and watched the sun rise over the river and the trees.

Our wonderful cook made us crepes this morning!! :) and we were given dulce de leche (a delicious version of caramel) as a filling. They were perfect. Now we are waiting to board the boat and head back to Cusco.
10:58 AM
We road our boat back and got back in our van to drive back to Cusco. But first, we had a stop to make. About an hour down the road was an animal shelter. Within seconds of stopping our van to get out, a large black spider monkey had hopped in and was jumping all over all of us. As we got out of the car, more monkeys came to greet us. A small baby monkey climbed up my arms and onto my shoulder. I was immediately in love. Another monkey hopped on Soos head and stayed attached to her hair for the next 15 minutes or so. The baby then hopped over to Mickayla, and then the spider monkey decided he wanted to climb on me, so I held him on my arms with his tail wrapped around my neck as we made our way into the small fenced in area of the shelter. Besides the 6 monkeys that lived there, there were 3 macaws (I got to hold the baby one), 3 wild pigs, a tapir, a crocodile, a tortoise, 2 dogs, and a cat. The monkeys were quite entertaining, and the spider monkey was especially mischievous. It was so much fun, and certainly the highlight of the trip. The real question is, how do I get myself a monkey?

We're back on the road and bless Soos's soul because she just a discovered our seats recline. Nap time!
5:11 PM
Without explanation, we suddenly stopped and and the van backed up to a gas station. Turns out we had a flat tire, and my, it was flat!

Luckily, they had a spare, so our tour guide and driver quickly got to work. To keep myself entertained during this break, I decided to go pet the cow in the field below :)

6:34 PM
We are home! I have officially been to and survived the Amazon Rainforest!
