Since I haven't blogged in about a week, I thought I'd give everyone an update!
Saturday we went to the hills near Lima, into a poverty-ridden neighborhood. We got to work with an organization that promoted being eco-friendly. A few people were working on a gardening project, and I got to spend time with the children from the surrounding neighborhood as we raised awareness for the Dia Mundial Sin Tabaco (Worldwide Day without Tobacco). We got to play games and color with the kids and then we all planted new gardening plants together. The women cooked us a great meal of chicken and rice for when we were done!

Sunday we FINALLY got to sleep in :D I think it was the first time since we've been here! We enjoyed lunch at Pardo's Chicken which was very yummy, then we took a trip to the beach near us and I made a new friend

Afterward we took a tour of a Barranco, Lima - a beautiful little town.

On Monday we were back on the daily grind. For our monday morning USIL cooking class we made Ceviche (with fish, octupus, and squid), Solterito de Queso, and Pescado a lo Macho. ((Photo creds to Soos)) ((for actually pretty much all the pics on this))

Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday I worked in the call center for the hotel. I worked with the Property Management System, secretarial tasks, and answering phones in Spanish ("Centre de CCLH. Buenos dias. Saluda le Denae. Puedo ayudarlo?") I spent the last few days in the Call Center with two lovely ladies who were very helpful, and in between calls we enjoyed talking about all sorts of things from our favorite food to aliens.
Today was my first day in Room Service. The morning consisted of checking all the mini bars in the rooms, ordering more supplies, and delivering meals. Pretty easy stuff. Wish you could've all seen what I was wearing though - the classic room service outfit, a bowtie (yes, I had to wear a bowtie) and a vest. Not exactly what I usually wear, but hey, it was quite funny.
I have one more day in Room Service tomorrow and then the weekend off! YAY. There will be lots of sleeping in happening :)
