This morning we went to an orphanage to visit the 30 young girls who lived there. Part of the cost of our program went to buying these girls breakfast, that we were then able to prepare for them, and also some new tshirts and pants. Today we got to meet the founder, a sweet elderly woman, who has dedicated 34 years of her life to giving these girls a home - and all through donations from fellow Peruvians, no government support - and the story was quite touching. Before we all sat down and ate breakfast together, one of the girls, about age 16, stood up and made the most beautiful speech thanking us for coming to spend time with them and for the breakfast and clothes. I know it touched all five of us in an incredible way. Soon we were all eating and many funny conversations were happening around the table. The girls were so happy and full of life. After breakfast, we joined for a group photo and then the girls took us around and showed us their rooms, proudly displaying their small trinkets - especially anything with a little english on it.

Spending time with these girls was so fun, we decided we're going back Saturday to have lunch with them. It'll be a pizza party! :)

After we left the orphanage we went for lunch at La Casa de Don Cucho. I have never seen so much food in my whole life! Needless to say, we have full stomachs and lots of great leftovers.

Afterward, we went to Inca ruins. We have all been so tired, and had to walk up quite a high slope, but it was worth it. We mad it to the top of an Inca pyramid and the view was stunning.

It only makes me so much more excited for our upcoming trip to Machu Picchu.
