My first full day in Lima was full of fun! We got up early this morning and enjoyed a delicious breakfast with some fresh papaya juice in the cute courtyard of our hotel.

Our next stop was USIL, where we had a meeting with the former vice-president of Peru, Carlos Ferrero. He spoke to us about Peru's economics, geography, culture, etc. One of the most interesting points I took away from this meeting was that mining is one of Peru's most important exports, but there is a lot of internal troubles regarding this, since most Peruvians who work in agriculture believe that the mining cannot be accomplished without major pollution. Ferrero said that this is currently Peru's largest issue.
Afterward, we enjoyed a lovely meal at USIL's fine-dining restaurant, Restaurante Don Ignacio - it certainly gets 5 stars from me! The first dish we received was Ceviche, made from raw Flounder. It was incredible. And of course there was more good food to come afterwards - especially desert!

Next we decided to go grocery shopping for some necessities. I've been trying work on my Spanish, but I mess up a lot (example: when searching for jelly, I asked: "Donde esta las preservas?" - The clerk was confused and that was probably because "preservas" isn't a part of the Spanish language).
Finally, we've finished off the day with some much needed naps and an American dinner at a burger joint.
I'm having so much fun already and there's so much more to come!
